Series Overview

God is faithful to fulfill every promise He has made, but we must learn to persevere,

remain faithful, and trust in God’s ability to provide in every season.

Goal

This week’s discussion is about moving past the pain in our past so we can better

receive the grace, forgiveness, and purpose God has for us.

There Is A Cloud Devotional

There Is A Cloud is the latest album from Elevation Worship. During the There Is A

Cloud series, encourage your eGroup members to participate with this devotional. It

can be found on the Elevation App and studies the songs Pastor will be be preaching

during There Is A Cloud. It explores the heartbeat behind the album and studies the

promises of God found throughout scripture. You can also find the devotional

on YouVersion that is 7 days.

Conversation Starters

1. What is an awkward or embarrassing childhood memory that, to this day,

still makes you cringe?

2. What was your most valuable possession as a child? Excluding family

members, what’s your most valuable possession now?

3. What have you stopped doing (big or small) because of a bad or painful

experience from your past?

Review

Watch the sermon clips and discuss eGroup members thoughts on the sermon. Ask

eGroup members to share their favorite points from the sermon, what spoke to

them, a phrase or moment from the sermon they related to the most, or questions

they have. If members have a hard time recalling the sermon, talk through your

notes and share your favorite points.

Start with Scripture

Ask someone to read 2 Corinthians 5:17 out loud. Paul does not limit who has

become a “new person” to whoever has good church attendance or adheres

to a certain standard of behavior. Why do you think we sometimes view

Christianity that way?

Romans 8:1 (NLT) says, “So now there is no condemnation for those who

belong to Christ Jesus.” When did you first place your faith in Jesus (if you

have)? Looking back on that moment, what does this verse mean to you?

Take it further: In John 8, a group of Pharisees brought to Jesus a woman who

had been caught in adultery. Jesus knelt down and wrote on a stone or

marble surface. God also chose to have the Ten Commandments written on

stone. What does this connection say about the way Jesus changed our

approach to religion versus a relationship with God?

Make It Personal

Perry Noble preached three reminders that can help us move past our past:

In Christ I am completely forgiven. In Christ I am valuable. In Christ I am

unconditionally loved. Which of these is the easiest for you to receive? Which

of these is typically the most difficult?

What events, mistakes, or memories from your past have the biggest impact

on the way you’re able to receive these?

When you fully understand these three truths, how does it change the way

you see yourself? How does it change the way you see God?

Act On It

Perry Noble preached, “If you don’t let your past die, it won’t let you live.”

What in your past is still replaying in your mind? How does that threaten to

hold you back from living out your purpose?

Whether it is something you did, something that was done to you, or

something else altogether, what steps can you take now to begin moving on

from it?

Fullness

Play the song, “Fullness.” As the song plays, encourage eGroup members to pray

quietly for themselves.

Prayer Requests and Prayer

Ask eGroup members to share any prayer requests they have. Record any notes or

prayer requests to pray for members during the week.

Dear Lord, thank You for Your unconditional forgiveness. Thank for you loving us,

saving us, walking with us, and never forsaking us. Help us to remember Your love for

us is based on our position as Your children and not on our performance. Teach us how

to move past the pain and receive forgiveness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
